He has a particular passion for working with young people and families – including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds – and believes that feeling truly heard is the first step toward healing.
Dr Moonjelly completed his medical degree in 2009 at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), one of India’s most respected medical institutions. He went on to build a strong foundation in research – first at Purdue University’s Behavioural Neurosciences Research Centre in the United States, and later at the Brain and Mind Research Institute at the University of Sydney, where he also completed a Master of Medicine in Psychiatry.
He trained across the Northern Sydney Hospital Network and has worked in a broad range of public hospitals, including Royal North Shore, Hornsby, Northern Beaches, Cumberland, Blacktown, and Broken Hill – giving him experience across both busy city services and rural communities.
Dr Moonjelly has supported patients of all ages in both public and private settings, with particular expertise in anxiety, depression, ADHD, attachment difficulties, and cultural psychiatry. He takes a thorough, personalised approach – listening carefully to each person’s full story before developing a treatment plan tailored to their needs, values, and life circumstances.
He currently works with the Child and Youth Mental Health Team at Hornsby Hospital, alongside his private practice.
